A Day in the Life at Proact IT Solutions

No two days at Proact IT Solutions look exactly the same. Some days are quiet and proactive, others are reactive and fast-moving. Most are a mix of both. What stays consistent is how the work gets done: thoughtfully, collaboratively, and with the shared goal of keeping our clients’ technology running smoothly — without unnecessary drama.

Behind the scenes, our days have a rhythm shaped by the different roles each person plays.

Amy: Keeping the Wheels on the Road

Every day starts with coffee. Always.

From there, Amy moves between the practical and the strategic:

  • Handling as-needed bookkeeping, payroll, and tax tasks, under the watchful eye of our outsourced accounting firm.
  • Designing client websites — updates, content changes, and longer-term strategy, often in tandem with Beth
  • Creating and adding content to Proact’s website and social media, in coordination with Lennon
  • Occasionally attending networking or business meetings with Jay, designing and ordering business cards and work shirts.
  • Doing anything the rest of the team needs.
  • Keeping Sylvie the Cat from walking across her keyboard and looking after the blind, office cattle dog, Jax.

It’s where Amy likes to be: working in the background so everyone else can focus on clients.

Beth: Making Things Work

Beth is often the first person our clients connect with. She is equally comfortable in analytical and creative capacities. She’s usually addressing client issues remotely:

  • Fulfilling website clients’ requests with care and precision, often working with Amy
  • Taking on a wide range of support tickets as they come in
  • Communicating comfortably with clients who prefer email or text instead of phone calls

She has a knack for keeping clients—and her co-workers—supported.

Zachary: Keeping Things Moving

Zachary focuses on the front lines:

  • Tier 1 help desk troubleshooting
  • Onsite troubleshooting and equipment installations
  • Listening and evaluating onsite client concerns and referring consultation, quote and proposal requests to Jay

Many issues are resolved quickly at this level, often before clients realize how close they were to a bigger disruption.

Caleb: Solving the Hard Problems

When issues move beyond quick fixes, Caleb is often involved:

  • Managing IT projects (which is more complex than it sounds)
  • Working (along with Jay) with RMM and cybersecurity software vendors
  • Providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support
  • Assisting Tier 1 technicians with troubleshooting
  • Tracking labor and parts to support accurate invoicing

His role ensures that problems are solved correctly and thoroughly, not just temporarily patched.

Jay: The Big-Picture Thinker

Jay’s day often involves juggling multiple threads at once:

  • Consulting with clients and technicians on both technical and strategic decisions
  • Consulting with potential clients, performing site audits, and writing proposals
  • Networking with local business owners
  • Researching and sourcing IT equipment and software solutions
  • Developing in-house tools to improve internal processes
  • Answering employee questions throughout the day

He spends much of his time connecting dots — translating complex technical realities into practical, actionable decisions for business owners.

A Very Human Office (and some critters)

In between tickets, calls, and projects, there’s a steady stream of proactive work:

  • System monitoring
  • Maintenance and updates
  • Security checks
  • Documentation
  • Process improvements

Proact is a small team, and that shows in good ways. Conversations move easily between technical problem-solving and real life. Dogs and cats occasionally wander through the office. Collaboration happens naturally because people actually talk to each other.

We don’t run on constant urgency or manufactured hustle. We aim for steady, thoughtful work that holds up over time. And we truly enjoy working with each other and our clients.

Wrapping Up the Day

By the end of the day, tickets are closed or queued, systems are stable, and priorities for tomorrow are clear. IT work is never truly finished — but it can be managed well.

Our clients don’t need to know every detail of how our days unfold. They just need to know that there’s a capable team behind the scenes, each person playing their part, paying attention so they don’t have to.

That’s a day in the life at Proact IT Solutions.
