Our Story

My (Jay Watts) technology career began at the age of 10 when my dad, a cable TV installer, hired me to run cables under houses. Around the same time, my mom enrolled me in a computer programming camp at West Georgia College. Both experiences played heavily into my career choices later in life. I had always wanted to serve my country in the military, so at 18 I promptly enlisted in the United States Army.

While trained to be a field radio repairman, after training at Ft. Gordon I was assigned to the Electronic Proving Grounds at Ft. Huachuca, AZ, to test and evaluate military communication equipment. During this time I was tested and chosen for duty within the White House Communications Agency in Washington, DC, and was investigated and cleared for the highest level of top secret clearance. The slot for WACA never opened during my initial enlistment, however. I decided not to re-enlist and returned to Georgia to help my father with his satellite business. A year later I took a position as Assistant MIS Director for a large sports card company in Atlanta while working toward my CIS degree and continuing to work in the IT industry.

In 1996 I moved with my family to Los Angeles, CA, where I participated in the launch of the broadband internet industry. I developed troubleshooting protocols and training while also handling the highest-level technical support issues (tier 3). After 5 years in California, I returned to the metro-Atlanta area and worked as an IT contractor and consultant while building my client list for my own business. Seventeen years later some of those original businesses are still clients today.

In 2015 I married Amy, who became my business partner and took over the finance and web design aspects of the business. However, after over fifteen years of supporting clients as a "break-fix" IT business, I was frustrated. My goal was to keep client businesses up and running, so why was it standard practice to wait for something to break to take action? In January 2016 Amy and I decided to align our company goals with our clients' goals. We wanted to proactively prevent downtime in the first place. And Proact IT Solutions was born.

While Jay is constantly evaluating and researching the most affordable and effective ways to serve our clients, I (Amy) have found fulfillment in the very practical aspect of what we do. In my 20 years as a professional artist prior to joining Proact IT Solutions, my work was never more practical than helping people keep their businesses running as smoothly and profitably as possible. We genuinely love seeing our clients succeed.
